The Otho Davis Scholarship Foundation was established in 1999 at a dinner honoring Otho Davis, Head Trainer for the Philadelphia Eagles for 23 years. That night, Otho requested that the proceeds go towards a graduate student scholarship for aspiring students studying sports medicine or a related field. Otho's legacy will continue as the foundation officers and board continue to raise funds through contributions, donations, and sponsorships. 

On November 16th, the Otho Davis Scholarship Foundation will host its annual graduate student scholarship awards event at the Marriott Old City (formerly Sheraton Society Hill). The Otho Davis Scholarship Foundation will award graduate student scholarships annually in accordance with the wishes of Otho Davis. He expressed the following desires and qualifications, which constitute the policy of our foundation:

“A graduate student scholarship will be awarded to a deserving graduate student in a school program of study whose area of concentration is in sports medicine, physical training, or sports marketing.

The award will be based upon an overall review of merit and financial need by the members of the foundation’s Board of Trustees. The candidate must either attend school in or be a resident of either Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey or Northern Delaware. The awarded scholarship will be directly sent to the school on behalf of the student and must be used within five years of the award acceptance.”.We will be awarding two Graduate students a scholarship in the amount of $20,000 each.  

The applicant must also exhibit significant financial need and should note their current total educational debt. This information must be addressed or the application will not be considered. A letter from the financial aid office will usually suffice. Scholarship finalists may be asked to provide verification of total educational debt.
